The final ToolingDocs conference
of the year, 'Developing a Systematic Approach to
Mold Maintenance', was held in the Detroit, Michigan area.
Through this one-and-a-half day conference, located at the Holiday Inn in Troy, plant supervisors, tooling engineers and mold maintenance personnel
were able to learn valuable techniques and practices being used in today's
leading tooling facilities.
Conference Topics:
Key presenter Steve Johnson covered mold
maintenance and optimization topics including Goal Setting,
Craftsmanship, and Documentation Procedures. Additional
guest speakers, Steve Bales and Harry Raimondi of
Bales Mold Service,
presented a special piece on Treatments and Coatings.

Plant Tour
Day two of the conference featured a private plant tour of a local
Tooling and Machining Facility.
The facility tour described in detail maintenance procedures (including
distributing copies of their work instructions), a presentation on the
challenges and successes of bold initiatives that have been launched, and a
thorough tour within this shop. All in attendance gained a unique
submersion into a world class mold maintenance and repair facility.
