TOPIC: Water Lines in the Base Leaking

Submitted: May, 2003

A mold has been brought to us with water lines in the base leaking. The lines have been drilled too close to the pockets and small cracks have developed. We can see where it has been welded but it is still leaking. Is there an epoxy product that can be run through the holes to stop the leaks?

We are not aware of any epoxy product that will guarantee it will meet the needs required. There is a product used to seal lines mechanically called Expansion Plugs. These are available from a company by the name of Farmington Engineering, Ph. 1-800-428-7584. They guarantee a 100% seal which would allow you to re-route the water away from the area that is leaking.
