I'm interested in finding out what types of grease molders use on higher temperature molds (180 to 250F). We need something that doesn't flow out, doesn't bleed onto lighter color cosmetic parts, and handles and cleans easily.

We mold with hot oil at 330F and use Permatex Industrial Super Lube multipurpose synthetic lube No. 892329. We have a lot of success with graphite impregnated self lube bushings.

We use a lubricant called Texaco Premium RB Grease. It is rated to 160C. Works well and does not run out on the part.

Hasco's Z260 heavy-duty lubricant (phone: (818) 709-4891) or Thermal Lube Polyon X-L845 (phone: (514) 694-5823).

Micro Surface 1216 grease has a dropping point of 385F and a worked penetration of 280F. Also comes in a USDA H-2 designation. T. Quails, Microsurface, (800)-248-4221.

Slide Super Grease works at mold temperatures from -65F to 650F. A clean, clear, non-yellowing grease, it will not separate, run, or fall out. It is FDA approved and USDA rated, and can be cleaned with standard mold cleaners.

An alternative to grease is Dicronite Dry Lube, which operates to 1000F, acts as a permanent mold release, will not migrate, and will withstand most cleaners without changing surface finish.
